I AM THANKFUL FOR...

Thanks to all the food that I devoured yesterday, I can't see my toes anymore.

   All day people have been talking about what they are thankful for, but personally I couldn't stop thinking about what time the food would be done. Now, it's 12am and I can actually kick back with a guilty stomach ache, pondering those thoughts of thankfulness. 

"Fone It In" Festival - Filming With An iPhone

Ever since we subscribed to the Online Video Contest site, we've been finding great motivation in creating content for festivals and challenges. We decided to take place in the "Fone It In" Festival. Under this, you are to film a fiction/nonfiction short film on a phone. The videos has to be under 3-minutes, and can be edited on any software. After striving to step forward with our gear over the past year, it was time to step back and put what we've learned onto a lower class camera. Here's how it went and what we have to say about the Production of "PREVENT: Standoff Against Time".

ON TO POST: The Z Line (A Collaborative Short Film)

   The idea of my first apocalypse/zombie film hit me in June. Our latest short film project "Brotherly Blood" was nearing it's end and I knew it was time to start something else. It was based off of a video game (only the trailer for the game) and I felt discredited with the plot. I loved the film, but I wanted to create something original.
   I wanted to do something that was big, but wasn't going to take money or months to accomplish, so I decided making this a collab project was the way to go.

THAT'S A WRAP: Rainbow 6 Patriots - Brotherly Blood

This project started in 2012 when I saw a trailer for the video game "Rainbow 6 Patriots" set to come out December of 2013. It didn't reveal much, but it showed a topic and story that I just had to touch down on.

The video game trailer ask you, "Are you willing to turn your gun on a fellow countryman?"

SILAS ROWLAND: I am a filmmaker.

If I were to walk into a war zone, I wouldn't see the battlefield through a scope. I would see it through a viewfinder as I frame the shot, and capture the story. I've never been good a cooking, or anything else of that matter. You can put me in front of a broom, and I would ask if it was a boom.

I am a filmmaker.

   My age is irrelevant to what I am, but it is somewhat of the reason I consider what I am becoming everyday. See, my flesh is mortal, and while my soul is housed in it, I will grow, work and eventually die to meet my God. But somewhere in between that, the importance of living and becoming a man of importance lies, and it's up to me and only me to decide how that will come to be.

Grain on DSLR Video

In this video test, my friend Justus Gilstrap of ThePassiveAssassin Channel on YouTube (also co-director and editor for Rainbow 6 Patriots: Brotherly Blood ) test the look of adding a grain overlay to your DSLR footage. He goes to say it improves the the quality and gives it that more film look. Are you with him or against him?

I am going to give it a try when I bring back my webseries "Jericuda the Redneck" late this summer. I will be going for the "Stand by Me" classic and adventurous feel and I think the grain will help me get there in my edits.
