Last year, in July, The Research Page held their first month long challenge. I decided to join, but at the end of the month I didn't have a film to submit. Now looking back on it, I am sad to say I missed out on not even giving it a shot.

But now, after witnessing the turnout from the last challenge, I have fully dedicated myself to spending this month shooting a short film. I'm only a 11 days into this challenge, and I feel like I've learned so much. I've learned to manage my time and patience with creating a quality story while having a short amount of time to do so.

Still from a TEST SHOT while location scouting.
See, it's not about the prizes. (Although it would be sweet to win one.) It's about getting up, and filming something. It's about testing yourself. It's about having some extra motivation to pursue what you love doing. And at the end of the month, you've created a short film. No matter how good or bad it is, you will have improved. You have judges who are going to tell you what they liked and didn't like. All the more to keep going until you make something that's just perfect.

The other side.

It's not about the best gear, or how long you've been hitting record. It's simply about creating something you never have before.

Join in so you can get off the couch. Join in so you can test yourself. Join in so you can improve. Join in for the community that comes along with the challenge.

-Sincerely, SILAS
